“Hey there, darling?” and “How’s everything for you?” are common phrases heard at 45 South Café and Coffeehouse in Norcross, Gwinnett County’s oldest independently-owned café.

The charming, spacious café is more than your bustling breakfast joint—it’s a meeting spot for social groups and an art space.

Every Wednesday, they host “People Doing Community,” where community members can gather to fellowship and find out about news and opportunities in the neighborhood. The café also hosts live music every quarter.

The owners, Ralph and Monica White, are proud to be a part of the Norcross community. When they bought the cafe in 2022, they immediately wanted to change what they described as “bland art” on the walls. So they reached out to Norcross Art Gallery and created a partnership.

Now customers can view and purchase oil paintings, photography, and portraits from local artists, along with butterbeer-flavored latte and avocado toast. You can find new artists featured every month.

Ralph says, “The vibe here is just amazing. All of our staff are super friendly. We treat our staff like family. We have lots of fun. It comes out in the way they treat our customers. We have plenty of space and music vibing in the background.”

There is comfortable seating indoors and outdoors to enjoy, tea, smoothies, and pastries. They are most famously known for their moist banana bread.

Ralph recommends the caramel macchiato, grits bowl, and in-house quiche made from scratch.

Menu items range from $3-$15.
