The Land of the Free might lose access to TikTok soon. Although the app is already banned on national governmental devices, its parent company ByteDance could be forced to sell the app or else be prohibited in app stores and web hosting services based in the U.S. With 1 billion active users as of 2021, TikTok is currently the fifth most popular social media platform in the world (after Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, and Instagram). The American public could loose the app entirely if the bill is passed on March 13.
