Florida Republicans on Thursday advanced legislation, described as “union busting” by critics, that would impose new restrictions on most of Florida’s public sector unions and could cost the state nearly one million dollars. The legislation’s bill sponsors, State Sen. Blaise Ingoglia (R) — who admitted he’s never been a union member — and State Rep. Dean Black (R), say their proposals are meant to increase transparency within unions and hold unions leaders accountable to the interests of the workers they represent.
