Although the mural was beautiful and had a great representation behind it, it was not well kept up and did not look like it had been cleaned since it was originally painted. The mural was fading and cracking and It seems as if nobody paid attention to it until it was gone. Being a life long resident of Winston-Salem I also agree that community is huge in our city. I have driven by several times and love the new look of the building. It fits in well with the surrounding shops like Southside Beer garden, Arcadia Foods, Elevated Weirdo. It also shows other small businesses how much opportunity is in our area and how much room we have to grow as a community. Before the gym came that building was not being used for anything. Washington Park CrossFit already has a great established community seeing many people already working out there and many of those people live in the Washington Park neighborhood themselves. Another great part of our culture in Winston-Salem is that we all support each other, especially our small businesses and I do not think that it is fair to write these things about a small business like Washington Park that has nothing but good intentions at bettering our community.
